Fiji

Fiji is an unspoiled, natural environment of extreme beauty where a tranquil, unhurried life-style reigns. This group of over 300 islands lies approximately 1,800 miles northeast of Austrailia and has largely escaped the industrialization of the outside world. These South Pacific islands offer visitors the chance to experience diverse sights and sounds and while Fiji offers a feast for the eyes, it is the culture and people which truly set Fiji apart.

Viti Levu (Great Fiji) is Fiji's largest island with an area of approximately 6,600 sq. miles and contains nearly 75% fo Fiji's total population. The main resort area of Viti Levu is the Coral Coast in the south-west portion of the island. Vanua Levu is the second largest island in the archipelago and is slightly larger than half the size of Viti Levu. Vanua Levu, along with Taveuni and its outer islands, comprise the northern group of islands, and are more lush and tropical than the rest of the chain of islands which make up Fiji. The Mamunucas (mama-nuthas) is a group to the north, these islands are largely charicterized by a dryer climate and offer magnificent white-sand reef-fringed beaches, as well as some of Fiji's most deluxe resorts.

Throughout Fiji, a number of outer-island resorts offer an extremely secluded experience. Most of these resorts contain no more than 15 individual hut-style accommodations, known as bures (bu-rays).
