**Spoiler Alert**-The truth about Cabo and it’s “un-swimmable” beaches.

**Cabo spoiler ahead-do not read any further if you absolutely love Cabo more than anything else in the world.**
Yes, I admit it...I’ve become somewhat of a beach-snob. Many of you come to me asking for a warm, tropical vacation and my first question is always “Is playing in the ocean important to you?” Most people give me this puzzled look as if to say: “Cabo is right next to the ocean, so of course it’s important”...well folks, if it is, then Cabo is not your place. Sorry to all of you Cabo-lovers, but if you intend to play in the ocean it’s going to be on some sort of a flotation device and/or very little (if at all). Yes, there are a few properties with nicer, more private beaches, but, as I always say “you get what you pay for”. If you want to go to Cabo and stay on a nice beach then you’re going to have to pay for it or leave your resort and drive to it. I have been to Cabo three times now and not one time have I been able to “play in the ocean” while there. Why is this, you ask? It has to do with the ocean it’s on. The Pacific Ocean just isn’t a very laid-back, drink-your-pina-colada-while-standing-in-the-ocean, kind of place. Sue me...but I like those things on my beach vacations. Don’t get me wrong, Cabo has a lot of things going for it...it’s just not it’s beaches. See below for my own personal list of pros and cons for visiting Cabo.

Pros:
1. Short flight-you can leave PDX in the morning and be by a pool with a drink in hand by afternoon.

2. Flights are fairly inexpensive in relation to other tropical destinations.

3. Tropical, warm weather.

4. Many all-inclusive resorts to choose from.

5. The ocean is beautiful and still provides all of the hypnotic, “healing properties” they say the ocean provides.

6. Beaches to “walk along”.

7. Sport-fishing...if you or your plus-one are in to that...Cabo is the place for you boasting Black & Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Striped Marlin, Yellow Fin Tuna, Dorado, Wahoo and more.

8. San Jose Del Cabo...❤️ Of the three times I’ve traveled to Cabo, one of those times I stayed in San Jose Del Cabo and enjoyed the quaint, small-town feel of it more than Los Cabos and Cabo San Lucas.

Cons:
1. Un-swimmable beaches.
Why are the Cabo’s beaches considered un-swimmable, you ask? The heavy wave action with a potential for rogue waves, rip tides, severely sloping beaches and the bottom drops off very quickly on most Cabo beaches...not to mention the lack of life-guards coupled with the high alcohol consumption that Cabo is known for. It’s all about what’s important to you...

All of this being said, there are swimmable beaches in Cabo: see link below
